The Master of Science in Economics is a STEM-designated program designed to provide a solid foundation in economic theory, quantitative methods, and policy. It prepares students for multi-industry career opportunities or can be used as a stepping stone to a PhD program.
All applicants to the MS Economics program in Seattle will be considered for a merit scholarship of 50% tuition.
A Graduate Certificate in Urban Studies offers you a solid foundation in the fundamentals of urban and regional policy theory and research methods, with a cumulative capstone project.
A Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities allows you to pursue an organized course of study in an emerging field of research with the interdisciplinary faculty of the NULab for Texts, Maps, and Networks. You can choose to apply directly to the certificate as a standalone program or complete its requirements in conjunction with a doctoral or master’s program at Northeastern.
The Master of Science in Urban Planning and Policy trains students to work as urban planners in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The curriculum provides a solid foundation in planning and policy while allowing students to develop substantial expertise in one of four focus areas: Urban Design and Physical Planning; Urban Analytics; Urban Sustainability and Resilience; and Urban Development Policy and Planning.

With classes 100% online, the program couples comprehensive data analytics skills with an understanding of the big questions faced by cities in the 21st century. Only a handful of U.S. universities currently offer degrees in urban informatics.

With classes on campus and online, students obtain the practical and theoretical knowledge necessary to understand the intricacies of interconnected urban systems and to analyze how these systems can work together to create sustainable, resilient, and just cities. Only a handful of U.S. universities currently offer certificates in urban analytics.
The Master of Arts in International Affairs is a challenging and interdisciplinary program dedicated to preparing tomorrow’s global citizens and leaders by combining theories, concepts, and methodologies from a range of disciplines with study abroad and experiential learning opportunities in Boston, across the country, and around the world.
The Master of Arts in History is a leading master’s program focusing on world history, public history, and the digital humanities. Our 16 full-time faculty members introduce students to a range of historical questions and methodologies through coursework, fieldwork, and research projects. Students learn to put the past in context and to discern its relevance to current conditions and future possibilities at the local, national, and global levels. Graduates have continued on to employment in an array of fields, as well as to PhD programs in history and related disciplines.
The Master of Arts in English launches students into the study of literature, writing, and rhetoric at the graduate level. The program offers two years of intensive study in the major fields of British and American literature, covering the debates and approaches that animate the discipline of English. Our MA graduates are fully prepared to proceed to study at the doctoral level, and their training in critical thinking, language skills, and cultural history has also proven to be fruitful preparation for a range of careers outside of academia.
